Born in 1950, Ho Chee Lick studied painting under Chen Wen Hsi in the 1960s and paints with oil and ink. From 2006 onwards, he has gradually transformed his practice in painting, moving away from painting representational subjects to exploring the synaesthetic relationship between art and music through his abstract ink works.

Presented in this exhibition is Ho’s new body of work which highlights the advances he has made in ink painting. As the title of the exhibition, Sequenza makes reference to compositions in classical music which oftentimes employ unconventional and non-traditional techniques. Sequenza presents Ho’s new and daring abstract ink works completed with uncommon painting implements. Each work seeks a new pictorial character driven by an assured sense of experimentation. In the process, the act of painting is freshly interpreted.
